New Bedford residents only; be prepared to show proof of residency. All loads are subject to approval by Recycling Center Attendant.
Only residential material generated within the boundaries of the City of New Bedford is accepted at the facility.

Not Accepted:

Construction & demolition debris such as the waste from building material and rubble resulting from the construction, remodeling, repair or demolition of buildings or other structures. Includes sheet rock, lumber, and wood waste.
Special Waste – Materials such as sewage solids, radioactive wastes, pathogenic wastes, explosive materials, chemicals liquid wastes or other material of hazardous nature or materials requiring special handling or procedures for disposal.

Bulky items, household trash, furniture, oil-based paint, tires.

Right to Refuse Service:

The City reserves the right to refuse Commercial and Passenger Vehicles, Dual and/or Single Axle trailers, over-sized loads, and/or improperly sorted load(s). All visits should not surpass 10 minutes to off-load material(s).

Brush: should not exceed a diameter of 4 inches

Cooking Oil
Electronic waste: TVs, computer monitors, computer towers, laptops
Food Waste: all unpackaged food, bones, seafood shells, coffee grounds, paper bags or certified compostable bags
Fire Extinguishers
Large Appliances (White Goods)
Mercury-bearing products: fluorescent lamps/CFLs, button batteries, thermostats, thermometers, other products containing mercury
Propane tanks: 20lbs only, must be empty (no helium tanks)
Rechargeable household batteries
Scrap Metal
Single Stream Recycling: bottles, cans, jugs, jars, paper, and paperboard
Styrofoam Blocks
Textiles: stains, rips, missing buttons, and broken zippers ok. must be bagged, clean and dry
String lights: Christmas tree lights, etc.
Yard Waste: leaves and grass

Materials for Reuse Sheds:

Paint Swap Shed: Latex and Acrylic Paint Only. Must be minimum 2/3 full, never frozen, original can, usable, with clear labels (flat, semi-gloss, gloss), drop-off limit 3 per visit

Swap Shop: Books, Tableware, Silverware/Utensils, Cookware, Bakeware, Small kitchen gadgets, drop-off limit 3 per visit
