For residents and businesses in the following towns: Athol, Barre*, Bernardston, Buckland, Charlemont, Colrain, Conway, Deerfield, Erving, Gill, Hawley, Heath, Leverett, Montague, New Salem, Northfield, Orange, Petersham, Phillipston, Rowe, Royalston, Shelburne, Sunderland*, Warwick, Wendell, Whately (*Residents of Barre and Sunderland must pay to participate.)

Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) are products that contain hazardous materials like chemicals, flammable liquids, or corrosive substances. When these products are no longer needed or have expired, they can be harmful to human health and the environment if thrown away with regular trash. Sharing items depletes products; resulting in empty containers and reduced household hazardous waste.

Athol Transfer Station accepts these items year-round, but these materials are NOT collected at this event: auto batteries, household batteries, fluorescent lights, compact fluorescent lights, mercury thermostats, mercury thermometers.

ACCEPTED: Any substance labeled: CAUSTIC, TOXIC, CORROSIVE, POISON, FLAMMABLE, WARNING, DANGER, CAUTION
Antifreeze, Arts & Crafts Supplies, Asphalt Sealer, Brake Fluid, Carburetor Cleaner, Chemistry Kits, Creosote, Degreasers, Drain Cleaners, Engine Degreaser, Flea Powder, Fungicides, Furniture Polish, Gasoline, Gas Treatments, Herbicides, Insect Sprays, Kerosene, Lighter Fluid, Metal Polish, Mothballs, Muriatic Acid, No-Pest Strips, Oven Cleaners, Paint: Oil-Based Or Lead Only (No Latex), Paint Thinners, Pesticides, Photo Chemicals, Pool Chemicals, Radiator Flusher, Rodent Killers, Roofing Tar, Root Killers, Rust Proofers, Sealants, Solvents, Spot Remover, Stains, Toilet Cleaners, Transmission Fluid, Upholstery Cleaner, Used Motor Oil, Varnish, Wood Strippers, Wood Preservatives
