Clarksburg residents may access the City of North Adams’ Center for Hard to Recycle Materials. The purchase of a permit (day or annual) is required, and disposal fees will apply.

Residents from The North Berkshire Solid Waste Management District’s (NBSWMD) 14 member towns enjoy a shared services benefit, which allows access to specific disposal programs at certain neighboring transfer stations. NBSWMD hosts three annual paper document shredding events for residents of member towns. Locations, times, and dates vary. Visit the NBSWMD website (www.nbswmd.com) for details (see Special Collections).

If you have antifreeze to dispose and cannot wait for NBSWMD’s annual spring household hazardous waste collection, you may bring it to Cheshire’s transfer station during operating hours. Contact Linda Cernik (lcernik@nbswmd.com) for important details.

Residents from NBSWMD-member towns must bring discarded mattresses to the Town of Dalton’s mattress recycling hub (disposal fees apply). Visit www.nbswmd.com (see Transfer Stations/Dalton) for Dalton’s transfer station operating hours.

NBSWMD tire recycling hubs are located at transfer stations in Windsor and Adams (disposal fees apply). Payment is accepted at Windsor’s transfer station, but prepayment is required at the Town of Adams transfer station (purchase tire coupon tickets in advance of your visit from Adams’ Town Hall).

NBSWMD offers seven disposal sites for Universal Waste (fluorescent bulbs, mercury thermometers, non-alkaline batteries, ballasts, and thermostats). The shared service sites are located at transfer stations in Adams, Cheshire, Dalton, Hinsdale, Peru, Williamstown, Windsor, and Savoy. Visit www.nbswmd.com (see Recycling Resources) for details.
